False Unity

“32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. 40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” (Matthew 10:32-40)

Unity under the banner of kindness instead of under the banner of the Word of God, leads to unity with the world, false teachers, false prophets and doctrine of demons. To prove this point, we will explore the Scripture.

Jesus Christ came down on earth and made a bold declaration. This declaration being that He is the son of God, He is the Messiah, Who He died and rose on the third day (1 Corinthians 15). Certainly, this claim alone already divides the sheep from the goats, and those who believe Him and those that do not.

“31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.” (Matthew 25:31-33)

He not only told the bold truth that he is the Son of God, the Messiah, and died and rose on the third day, He also explained the Kingdom of heaven in ways the intellectuals at the time never could understand. The teaching, and commandments He gave out came against what these intellectuals taught, and they believed was correct.

“10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” (Luke 18:10-14)

“15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; 16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. 17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. 18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body.” (John 2:15-21)

How can we have unity with the world when the ideology that Scripture holds is one that comes against the evil desires of the heart. The Word of God is on the offense taking down the strongholds of fallacies, darkness, evil intentions, sin and bringing forth light that only comes from God.

“12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

Jesus Christ spoke, taught, and is the Word of God, and Jesus Christ teachings are no longer welcomed, they are considered politically incorrect, in this day of age. So, we must understand that if we preach the Word of God then we will offend people. Offending people or people pleasing should not be our concern, our concern instead should be if we are offending God or pleasing God.  The Holy Spirit, God almighty breathed upon the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16), therefore we should preach the Word of God with boldness and confidence, knowing we are pleasing our Father.

“9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor   of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”  (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

“12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

“15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 timothy 15-17)

Surely, it is understood that the Word of God comes against the beliefs and actions of the people living in the world. The Truth that we are to share which is the Word of God, comes directly against many cultures, from the western world to the eastern world, to the middle east, to Africa and down to South America. The Word of God sets commands in place that come against countless practices they follow. When the Word of God preaches salvation from hell and salvation from our sin to a newness of life, this is speaking that the wages of sin are death, and if we put our old ways behind, we can live as children of God. (Romans 6:23) The Word of God speaks of putting our selfish desires away, and this in itself comes against the indulgence that is in the western culture where everyone is focused on one’s self. We are meant to be in the world but not of it, we are ambassadors for Christ. We should not be surprised at the hatred the world culture has for Christians because in history ambassadors have been assassinated by foreign countries to break peace with the ambassador’s country (2,3,4).

If we preach salvation, the Word of God, and what Truth really is, the world will hate us, we are telling them to abandon all they have, think they are, and pick up their cross. Jesus explains this by saying if we are of Him the world will hate us, because it first hated him.

“18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” (John 15:18-19)

Just because what we say is so contrary to what they wish to do, and we will be hated for preaching the good news, does not mean we are supposed to stop preaching the good news of the Gospel of Christ. No, instead we must preach the good news because we love them and wish for them to receive salvation. Even when they hate us and persecute us, our concern for their eternal life should outweigh our pain.

Now Jesus is Truth, and there are false teachers, prophets, and apostles that trick the sheep, the flock, into doctrine of demons and ideas that lower who Jesus Christ is, and deny the power there of (1 Timothy 3, and 2 Timothy 3:5). What makes something a false teaching is if it is contrary to the Scripture, if it adds or takes away to and from the Scripture, adds unnecessary burden that God never intended or simply it is just not true. The Scripture tells us about false teachers, prophets and apostles.

“3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 timothy 4:3-4)

“3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.” (1 timothy 6:3-5)

“4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Jude 1:4)

“13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)

“1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” (2 peter 2:1-3)

“15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7:15-20)

“11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” (Ephesians 5:11)

“4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. 5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. 6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. 7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” (2 John 1:4-9)

If the Word of God warns us against these people, how are we supposed to have unity with them. We should stand up and tell them their falsehoods, lead them to the Cross and ask them to repent. Silence can be form of agreement, especially consistent silence! If you see your brother or sister pick up these false hoods are you going to do something? Or are you going to sit back and watch, while it adds pain to their life and seeds of death. For there are seeds of life and death, and do you really want the people who claim to be children of God, your brother or sister growing a tree of death in their life (Galatians 6:8, Romans 6:23, Matthew 7:18).

I am not going to get into the different false hoods right now, or the common themes in this day of falsehoods for prophecies and teachings. However, what I am asking you to realize is that unity can only exist under the banner of the Word of God. If a person is a child of God, they will love God’s commandments, and if they love God’s commandments, they will listen to the Word of God.

“2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” (1 John 5:2-3)

“10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. 20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” (1 John 3:10,18-21)

“1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” (1 John 4:1-4:6)

“16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” (John 14:16-21)

 

Return to your first love o’ church, return to Christ return to the Word of God… Not these fallacies that make the work of God to require degrees which allows elitism to invade our church, every single person is capable of preaching the good news, no matter their condition.

Return to your first love o’ church, return to Christ, return to the Word of God… Not the worldly ways of this day that claim sin as okay, when in actuality it brings death to people, from sexual immoral acts, to witchcraft, to killing the innocent, and to anything else that is sin. These fruits cannot flood our church, lest we be cut off from the tree of Christ.

Return to your first love o’ church, return to Christ, return to the Word of God. You have a new family, the family of Christ because when you follow Christ your old family often passes away and rejects Christ in you. However, we are to preach to our old family asking them to come to our Savior, but still understanding that Jesus came to divide the sheep from the goats, and if we preach the Word, they may ostracize us.

Return to your first love…
